Basic Chord Approach
When young adolescents begin their journey into the world of music, they have ambitious goals. They want to play music that sounds fresh, with harmonies and arrangements that sound more advanced than they really are. They also want to impress their friends and family, yet need to play music that is less physically demanding than most adult piano methods. Alfred's Basic Chord Approach addresses older students' youthful exuberance while providing solid lesson structure. Organized in two levels, it introduces chord playing faster than in the Basic Piano Course. Students begin playing triads in Level 1, rather than waiting until later levels. By combining an eclectic reading approach with chord playing, students are able to enjoy playing fuller and more involved songs and melodies very quickly.

Basic Jazz / Rock Course
Many piano students, including adults, want to play jazz or rock, but don't know where to begin. The Jazz/Rock Course and the Adult Jazz/Rock Course were developed for students and teachers with limited or no experience in improvising or performing jazz and rock music. Carefully planned improvisation opportunities throughout give teachers and students guidelines on how to approach the concept. Students may hear the pieces performed on the accompanying recordings exactly as they should be played, with or without instrumental accompaniment. The Jazz/Rock Course is perfect for individual or group instruction and is playable on both acoustic and electronic keyboards. It is a supplement to Alfred's Basic Piano Library, Levels 2, 3 and 4. The Adult Jazz/Rock Course is great for teens and adults and correlates with Level 1 of Alfred's Adult Piano Course

Basic Electronic Keyboard Course
When young adults are given electronic keyboards as gifts, or limited space requires that families purchase electronic instruments instead of acoustic pianos, they need instructional methods that are different from regular piano methods. Alfred's Basic Electronic Keyboard Course and the Chord Approach to Electronic Keyboards, Books 1, 2, and 3 provide an effective way to teach students in a progressive and logical manner within the limited keyboard range of small to medium-size electronic keyboards. Students learn intervals and chords, learn to use the fascinating sounds and rhythm features that are found on electronic instruments, as well as other options such as "single finger chord" keys.
